Reflections on service-learning in european higher education

چکیده

Over the last two decades, there has been a growing emphasis on transformation of higher education within Europe. The promotion active and democratic citizenship through formal is primary concern. Service-learning (SL) proven to be powerful didactic methodology for achieving these ideals. objective this paper highlight some reflections that permeate SL european experiences, published in European Observatory Service-Learning Higher Education, between January 2020 September 2021. counting percentages valued attitudes experiences were collected explore guiding philosophy, historical roots, purposes, underpinning features SL, contextual factors affecting practice partner institutions countries, future challenges opportunities. Conclusions focus growth mainstreaming; as core strategic pillar developing deeper community-higher partnerships strengthening civic engagement across education; need develop research connections potential can play terms increased civic, work-life theoretical understandings skills.
